Great stories are shaped by great characters
On International Women’s Day, we celebrate all women. Their strength, resilience, brilliance, and the countless ways they shape the world around us. At Mindclash Games, we strive to reflect these qualities in our board games. The characters we create are rooted in the belief that women can do all. They are not side notes in someone else’s journey, but take ownership of their own fate.
To honor this day, we would like to highlight four empowering women from our game universes. They represent qualities we deeply admire and inspire us.
Which one of them speaks to you the most? Vote on our Facebook page!

Phoenix – Agility, Confidence, Steadiness
From Perseverance: Castaway Chronicles
Perseverance: Castaway Chronicles tells the story of humanity stranded on a mysterious island after a catastrophic sea voyage. Civilization must be rebuilt from the ground up amid political tensions, scarce resources, and looming threats from the island’s megafauna. The game blends euro-style strategy with evolving narrative, asking players to shape the direction of a fragile society.
Phoenix’s story begins long before the shipwreck that brings the survivors of the Pearl of the Seas to the mysterious dinosaur-infested island. As a teenager named Phoebe, she spent countless hours in her father’s auto repair shop, surrounded by engines, wires, and machines waiting to be fixed.
These experiences sparked a fascination with technology that eventually led her into the digital world. There, her talent truly flourished. She began experimenting with computer systems, learning how they functioned and how they could fail. Her growing expertise eventually led her into the shadowy corners of hacking culture, where skill and daring often go hand in hand. During one particularly risky cyberattack, Phoebe gained a reputation that would change her life. From that moment on, she became known as Phoenix.
Later on, working closely with musicians and producers opened an entirely new world for her. Technology and creativity began to merge into music production and sound engineering. Soon she became a familiar face in Berlin’s underground club scene. One fateful night she met the cruise director of the luxury ship Pearl of the Seas who offered her a position on the ship’s technical crew. For many people, leaving behind a familiar life for a new adventure would have been a difficult decision. For Phoenix, it was simply the next opportunity to explore something new. Without hesitation, she accepted.
After the Pearl of the Seas is shipwrecked near an uncharted island filled with dinosaurs, its passengers and crew must work together to survive. Suddenly, every skill they possessed became vital. Engineers must improvise tools and structures. Leaders must be organized and inspiring. Hunters had to protect the colony from dangerous predators.
Phoenix proved that she’s up for the challenge. She was also one of the most skilled hunters among the survivors, but she always chose restraint whenever possible, acting only when necessity demanded it.
Her fearless nature became even more evident when she started to ride on a Thunderhorn named Sol. She has learned to understand their behavior and move alongside them with remarkable confidence.
Phoenix represents adaptability in many ways. Her life has never followed a straight path. Each chapter of her journey has shaped who she is, giving her the skills and perspective to face the unexpected. She embraces the unknown and turns even the most intimidating challenges into opportunities. She knows exactly who she is and never apologizes for it.

Serena – Selflessness, Freedom, Calling
From Septima
Septima is a strategic, medium-heavy Eurogame set in a tense and atmospheric world where witches live hidden among townsfolk. Players lead covens, practice rituals, gather ingredients, heal villagers, and try to prove their good intentions, while navigating suspicion and the constant threat of witch hunters. The heart of the game lies in balance: using power without drawing too much attention, building influence without inciting fear.
Within this world, Serena represents freedom, the drive to selflessly help others and the desire to find purpose.
As the youngest of her sisters, Serena often felt like she didn’t quite belong. While her siblings dreamed of building families, finding love, and living the lives expected of them, she could never truly imagine herself following the same future. Even if the mirror showed similar traits, she felt entirely different from them.
When war reached their town, that difference became clear. Serena’s father and brothers enlisted in the army. Unable to bear the feeling of waiting helplessly with her sisters, Serena chose another path. She joined a traveling hospital as a helper.
The work was exhausting and relentless. Serena spent years moving from one military camp to another, tending to wounded soldiers, changing bandages, and preparing healing mixtures. Day after day, she worked quietly among the injured, her clothes stained like everyone else’s, until she no longer stood out from those around her.
One scorching summer day, a dying messenger was brought into the hospital. Serena rushed to treat his wounds, doing everything she could to save him. But the messenger refused to rest. His mission, he insisted, was too important. A letter he carried had to reach the captain of a border fortress before sundown.
Before Serena could protest, he made her swear to deliver it.
With little time to spare, Serena secured the message and set out on foot. The fortress was nearly a day’s journey away, and the sun was already sinking toward the horizon. She ran across fields and rough terrain, pushing herself forward until something miraculous happened and she felt herself become quick as the wind.
Finally, she reached the fortress in time and delivered the message to the astonished soldiers guarding the gate. With the message delivered, there were no further questions. The soldiers simply handed her a new task.
And just like that, Serena’s journey as a messenger had begun. Her tale teaches us to accept ourselves just as we are, because in the end, embracing who we are gives us the wings to soar.

Electra: Innovation, Resolution, Fame
From Trickerion: Legends of Illusion
Trickerion: Legends of Illusion is a competitive strategy game set in the city of Magoria, where rival illusionists compete for fame, wealth, and the legendary Trickerion stone. Players manage workshops, learn new tricks, recruit specialists, and stage elaborate performances at the grand theater. It is a world of ambition, artistry, and rivalry.
Within this glamorous yet challenging environment, Electra has a unique identity. She was born under the name Eleanor, and was fascinated by thunderstorms from childhood. While others feared lightning, she studied and admired it. After witnessing its destructive force firsthand, she became obsessed with understanding and harnessing electricity. She would not rest until the power of lightning was completely under her command. In Magoria, she is admired for this extraordinary ability, yet feared just as much.
Taking advantage of this mystique, she chose to pursue fame as a Magician. And although the other performers may be far more formally trained, the audience simply cannot get enough of her electrifying performances.
As a magician, Electra introduced something different: real, controlled energy. Her lightning-enhanced performances blurred the line between science and magic.
She represents women whose curiosity and determination push everyone forward. Who enter spaces where tradition dominates and dare to redefine them. In Trickerion, success demands meticulous planning, and Electra proves that innovation is just as powerful as precision.

Samira: Discipline, Purpose, Valor
From Anachrony
Anachrony is a deeply strategic sci-fi game set in a dystopian future where Earth faces an impending asteroid impact. Humanity survives within isolated ideological Paths that are in constant conflict with each other. Every Path in Anachrony represents a philosophy: Dominance, Harmony, Salvation, Progress. Time travel is possible, allowing resources to be borrowed from the future, but it comes with a cost, and every action carries weight across timelines.
For the Path of Dominance, the Atlantean – a once state-of-the-art battleship – means home. When the cataclysm struck, military and civilian vessels were tasked with evacuating doomed coastal cities and searching for safe lands overseas. Among them, the Atlantean carried a mission of extraordinary importance: transporting some of humanity’s greatest minds to safety.
Violent storms severed communication with the rest of the evacuation fleet, and the surviving crew soon discovered that the world’s shores had become uninhabitable. With breathable air and sunlight still reaching the open sea Captain Ryland Wolfe made a decision to turn the ship itself their people’s new cradle. Equipped with supplies, a prototype water purification system, and the expertise of its passengers, the Atlantean transformed from a warship into a floating society to preserve knowledge, technology, and hope.
Within this unique and highly structured society emerged Samira.
Samira’s early life remains a mystery even to herself. Like many who became an Atlantean, she was probably brought aboard during one of the Path of Dominance’s mainland raids, to bring new people and skills into the fleet’s floating civilization. She grew up without knowledge of her parents or her past. Yet from the very beginning, she was placed into one of the most respected and demanding roles within the Atlantean’s social structure: she was Indoctrinated as a Treasure Hunter.
Within the Path of Dominance, society follows a rigid hierarchy called the Echelon, where professions define status and mobility between ranks is rare.
As a Treasure Hunter, Samira’s role extends far beyond combat. Treasure hunters are responsible for the most dangerous and vital missions, such as expeditions into the ruins of the Old World.
Equipped with specialized exosuits called Octopods, Treasure Hunters explore the ruins of the Old World to recover lost technology and vital resources.
Why Samira was chosen for this elite training remains unknown. For many of her fellow trainees, the decision sparked resentment and suspicion. But what began as hostility soon transformed into respect. Samira proved herself through relentless dedication and exceptional talent. Her agility and endurance quickly made her indispensable.
Her reputation solidified during a training mission that turned unexpectedly dangerous. When a fellow hunter who had even questioned her place amongst them was attacked by a shark, Samira intervened without hesitation, saving her life at great personal risk. The necklace she carries remains a symbol of bravery and acceptance of their fellows.
Admiration replaced envy, and Samira rose through the ranks of the Treasure Hunters with remarkable speed. At an unusually young age, she assumed leadership of the entire unit as a Commander.
Through countless expeditions into the remnants of the Old World, Samira developed a deep fascination with the lives that once flourished there. From every mission, she returns with one small object that for her tells a story about old times.
As the commander of the Treasure Hunters, Samira reports directly to Captain Ryland Wolfe himself. Many aboard the Atlantean view her as the ship’s unofficial second-in-command.
Samira never discovered the truth about her parents or the circumstances that led to her unusual Indoctrination. But during her first private audience with Captain Wolfe, she experienced a moment that still lingers in her thoughts. A resemblance she could not explain, but could never fully forget.
Samira’s story is one of resilience, determination, and the urge for discovery. She represents the courage to rise beyond expectations, the curiosity to learn from the past, and the leadership to guide others responsibly.
We design our games where women occupy positions of influence naturally within their worlds. They lead covens. Shape colonies. Revolutionize industries. Guide people to safety. Their motivations are layered, their impact is undeniable.
They are not flawless, just as none of us are. But they adapt, they grow, they keep going even if it seems impossible to make it. And through that complexity, they become relatable. Their stories resonate, because those qualities already exist in the world around us, in every one of us!
Today, we celebrate the ladies. Their ambition, perseverance, creativity, compassion, and the fact that they are navigating their lives remarkably, even when challenges seem overwhelming. Great stories are shaped by great characters, let’s start to write yours!
Happy Women’s Day! 🙂
