Why Email Marketing Works
Social media changes all the time, and it’s easy to miss updates in a fast-moving feed. That’s why email remains one of the best ways to stay in touch: it’s direct, reliable, and designed to keep you in the loop on what we’re working on.
When people talk about email marketing, you may think of cart abandonment emails, sales-y follow-up notifications, or automated discounts that go straight to your spam folder. While those certainly have their place, email marketing isn’t just about selling - it’s about building relationships with the people who genuinely care about what we do.
That’s why our emails aren’t just about promotions (though we’ll let you know about those, too). We use them to share behind-the-scenes insights, big announcements, localization updates, award wins, and event highlights from Essen Spiel to Gen Con. We also love celebrating team moments - whether it’s a wedding, a team-building day, or the board games we’re playing together.
If you’re reading our emails, it’s because you’re part of our journey, and we want you to feel connected.
How We Build Our Community Through Email
Our email list isn’t just a marketing tool - it’s the primary space where we connect with our main and most important audience and where we share the most important news about our studio. We know that many of you prefer hearing from us directly rather than relying on social media algorithms to show you updates. That’s why we focus on growing our list organically with people who actually want to be here, not through gimmicky sign-up tricks.
You won’t find us offering a quick 10% discount in exchange for your email address. Instead, we share things like exclusive content like designer diaries, early access to big announcements, and behind-the-scenes updates that go deeper than what we post elsewhere.
The Emails We Send
We keep our email strategy simple and intentional. You’ll typically see two kinds of emails from us:
1. Monthly Newsletters
This is where we share what’s happening at Mindclash Games. We talk about game development progress, sneak peeks of upcoming projects, localization news, community highlights, and industry events.
We also pay close attention to how these emails are received. Since we track open rates and engagement, we know that most people don’t scroll all the way to the bottom—so we make sure the most important updates are easy to find.
2. Special Issue Emails
These emails come when there’s something major happening, like a new game reveal, the launch of a crowdfunding campaign, or an exciting milestone. These aren’t frequent, but when they do land in your inbox, it’s because we have something really important to share.
